It's because the M&P is the new hot thing. Everyone who bought XD's back in the day are "upgrading"

    I "upgraded" to a Glock...

    I love my XDm 40. 4.5"

It wont be up for sale anytime soon. LOL

It Eats anything, never had a FTF, or issue of any kind.
( I do keep it very clean.)

    Fits perfect in my hand.

    Looks sweet too. IMHO

One of those would be my XD40subcompact
the 40 was an impulse buy for a carry piece. Shot it a few times, but would rather carry my 1911.
Im not upgrading, i just want to fund a new project. Threaded barrel for the TRP and an Osprey.

    I love my XD9 4"
over 5k rounds through it, half of them suppressed. Its not going anywhere.

That and there are just a lot of people offloading relatively new guns right now. See a lot of barely used ARs out there, too.

I think a lot of people bought more than they could afford during the rush/scare, and now are starting to offload some of that. Naturally that's going to include a lot of whatever was popular at the time.

I'm happy with my XD9sc as my carry gun. I'm also happy with my M&P9 as my full size pistol. There are pluses and minuses for each platform.

I wouldn't necessarily consider the M&P the new hot thing. I am considering another full size 9mm purchase in the fall (as a birthday gift to myself) and am stuck between a G17 and a full size M&P 9. I've already owned several XD/m's and they're outstanding and reliable weapons.

I need to do more research on which would suit me better.

To the OP, the same reason why there are so many Glocks for sale. They are both two of the most popular pistols in the US, millions of people own them, and of course some of those people will sell or trade them for whatever reason at some point.

I just took a quick glance at my board to see what types of guns people want a holster for. About 75% of the total orders right now are M&P's, mostly fullsize 9's and a few pros. Compare that with 2 XD's I have made so far. A few glocks, two sigs, and a steyr round it out.

I know this is no where near a proper sample, but it is interesting.

the M&P are now what the XD was a few years ago, popular.

They are both decent guns that run at affordable prices, but the XD is no longer "in vouge" and so like anything that was very popular and now isnt there is a glut in the market. Springfield saw this coming, thats why they brought out the (m) series IMO.
