Re: What site can i go to to find the value of one of my guns?
You can go the auction house routes but try to find out what they actually sold for, not what the seller was asking. Also, as said, Buds will give you a price. You can go to a book store and do a quick perusal of the different firearms values books to give you an idea also.
If you post it here, with as much info about the gun as possible (you don't have to give the complete s/n if you don't want to) and we can do some research and give you the info we find.
Selling to a dealer is actually not the way to go if you are looking to get the best you can from the gun. A dealer can't offer you what it may be worth because he has to turn around and sell it and make some money too. Now if you are buying a new gun from them, they may give you a bit better price because they may have some wiggle room on the price of the new gun. However, no matter what you think, the profit from a gun sale is not all that high. Dealers make their money from selling accessories which have a better markup.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Don't rely on what something sells for on Gunbroker as being what the gun is actually worth ! If two or more people are bidding on it and they just have to have it (maybe there father had one and they want one, Or some other sentimental reason ) The gun will probably sell at too high of a price...

If you check GunBroker, check the completed auctions (you must be a member), not the current ones. Get an overall picture of what they are actually selling for (don't base it on just one sale) and then reduce that amount by 33% to 50% to arrive at what you may be offered in trade at a dealer. Better to sell direct. JMHO / YMMV

Re: What site can i go to to find the value of one of my guns?
As a rule of thumb you can generally sell a handgun for $2-300 more privately than a gun shop will take as a trade in price, or buying out right.
Unless $2-300 means nothing to you, then trade it in at the gun shop. Then again, if it means nothing, just spend the money out of pocket and buy the gun you want in cash..
Gunbroker is a decent determiner of what guns are selling for new/used, but you have to know what you're looking for and check multiple listings, as well as shop prices, as well as an gun owners almanac which can be found at borders for example. This will give you a good idea of what your gun is worth.
