    Default Ticks & Hunting

    Went hunting on 10/15/07

Note to all early fall hunters, tuck paint legs into socks, spray flea and tick spray on pant legs to prevent ticks.

I didn't listen to my own advise and woke up this morning (3:30 AM 10/16/07) with a painful area on the back side of my knee with a small tick attached.

Ouch! I haven't seen to many tics around my area...but they were all over Greensboro, NC when we went to visit friends last year! Had to check the kids over every night before bed...

The ticks have been fierce this year due to the mild winter. We hike in the woods 2-3 times/week all year long and have seen tons of ticks since spring. My girlfriend found one on her again yesterday. Luckily it hadn't burrowed in yet.

Every time we walk in the woods we make sure to take a good shower directly after and throw the cloths we were wearing directly into the washer.

I have rearely seen ticks on me while hunting at my place in Bradford county during the archery or small game seasons. I've been covered with them during the spring turkey season though. I think that's because I'm sitting on the ground while hunting turkeys.
