Custom 1911's
I own several 1911's from Colt to Wilson Combat. I've lately been toying with the idea of selling off most of them to fund the purchase of a custom 1911. The one that catches my eye again and again is a collaboration between Gemini Customs and Wicked Grips. My question is, would you sacrifice most (literally down to maybe one) of the guns in your collection for one incredible addition? I love my 1911's but don't ever see myself putting out the money for a custom pistol without selling a few but I almost feel like it's the next most logical step. Am I being irrational?

No. I never sell guns. Every gun I own will be passed down to my children.
Yes. Save the cash and buy what you want when you can afford it; it'll make the purchase that much more rewarding. 1911s aren't going anywhere any time soon, anyway.

Not if it fits you.
I'd have just skipped 1911's and went 2011's for everything if I knew then what I know now.......
When you find the one that fits you...you don't want any more.
Personally, I'd rather have ONE bespoke pistol than 3 others.

And that second 1911 picture you posted with the green grips is downright hideous. I'll take an Ed Brown Executive Elite:

I've never quite heard of Damascus steel described in those terms but to each his own. I appreciate the art that goes into creating these fine works. To each his own though and let's not have tastes make this topic stray please.

Re: Custom 1911's
I also appreciate the fine craftsmanship that it takes to make a high-end 1911. That doesn't change my opinion that that pistol looks as if the Teutul family of Orange County Choppers threw up all over a Rock Island Armory factory.
Regardless, I'll stick to what I said in my first reply. If you want it, my advice is to save the cash and buy it. You'd regret selling one or some of those other pistols eventually.

Re: Custom 1911's
That's part of the 1911 industry; there is no "be all, end all", and they're counting on it. You'll eventually find something that doesn't quite meet your expectations of your dream pistol, too, and then you'll be looking for the next dream.
It seems to me that you already have your mind made up, and you posted this thread looking for someone to talk you out of it. Well, evidently, I'm unable to do that. So go get it.
