Re: Over oiled glock question.
As far as solvent goes it depends on a few things. Dirty ammo will gunk your gun up. That's when I get out the Hoppes #9. Try owning a ported semi-auto... I buy Hoppes by the gallon. I shoot a lot of .22 as well and cheap .22 ammo is pretty dirty, usually much more so than centerfire ammo. That's when I use a solvent.
As far as oil goes remember you also want to use it to protect a guns finish. This doesn't really apply to a Glock... Hard to destroy the finish on one. Same with XDs, I've been wearing one all summer and sweating all over it. Not a speck of rust anywhere. I haven't hit it with oil in a month, maybe more. Comes off the hip at night and goes into a silicone cloth gun sock. The Tennifer/Melonite finishes are very robust, but traditional blued finishes need a little oily love.Selling off a a sizeable Spyderco collection here

Glocks need oil?
Any vote for a third party is a vote for a Democrat. You are the enemy.

Re: Over oiled glock question.
My 2 cents....All of my autos are run with wet rails. I really like to use a light grease (Mitec etc) on the rails..Keep the rails lubed on a semi auto and you wont have any issues..As stated above keep the firing pin/striker channel clean..
Shoot well
