Re: A story of guns and money in Philadelphia.
It took three years to catch this guy? Why didn't the first time one of his guns were found being used in the commission of a crime lead to an investigation? The serial numbers will trace back to him. Am I missing something, or is this just another case of Philly not enforcing existing gun laws?

Re: A story of guns and money in Philadelphia.
Whenever I have a conversation to with an Anti, and they bring up criminals doing illegal things, I always mention this story. The story of a woman (Theresa Jones) who illegally bought two guns for felons years ago. Those thugs used the weapons to kill a teenager, threaten two cops, deal drugs and possibly commit other crimes. All she got was HOUSE ARREST AND PROBATION.

I try and explain to the anti's that if criminals aren't having the book thrown at them for gun crimes, then there will always be gun violence in Philadelphia. So when the next Theresa Jones gets asked to buy a gun for her felon boyfriend, she can remember that Theresa Jones just got house arrest for doing the same thing. No big deal right? The risk for the straw purchaser in Philadelphia doesn't outweigh the reward. Quick money versus maybe getting caught and put under house arrest are the consequences they see. If it was mandatory 25 years for straw purchasing, people might think twice. (This coming from someone who doesn't believe in mandatory minimums.)If guns kill people, then pencils misspell words.

Like Philadelphia would be full of saints, and angels, and would never have another killing without salesmen who legally or illegally transfer firearms.
Remember, its not that there are bad men, its the bad guns.

Re: A story of guns and money in Philadelphia.
There's a reason that criminals don't say "man, you don't EVER want to be caught doing crimes in Philly."
Criminals know not to be caught stealing in Saudi Arabia.
They know not to buy kiddie porn through the mail.
You don't want to use the word "*****rdly" during a speech at the NAACP.
Those actions have consequences. Crime in Philly, not so much. They don't fund the DA's office enough, they don't have a non-political system that puts ethical, smart judges on the bench. They are not serious about punishing criminals, or protecting witnesses, or allowing honest people to defend themselves. Philly actively works to stamp out anything that would be a deterrent to crime; if a victim shoots someone who's attacking him, the odds are that the shooter will be prosecuted. If a witness comes forward to testify against a badass. the witness has a good chance of dying, and the badass has a good chance of having his case dismissed over something trivial.
They worry far more about the rights of the guilty than about the rights of the innocent. The system is designed to allow crime, and it works really well at that.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com
