Re: Does anyone know anything about NAGR, are they legit?
Thanks for the replies. Since this thread has been active again lately, I just wanted to add that I never did join NAGR. I am a life member of both the NRA and the GOA. I think both groups are important and worth supporting, and I contribute regularly to both. Over time I have found that the GOA is the more effective group, and the majority of my contributions now go to the GOA. The NRA is important for the membership volume, the GOA is important for staying informed and directing the message to the politicians. If you are not a member I sincerely hope you will join both groups today. Two annual $25 memberships are a very small price to pay for protecting your rights to life and liberty, and to prevent the systematic destruction of the Bill of Rights.

Re: Does anyone know anything about NAGR, are they legit?
Several years back I started getting emails from them so I decided to send some money their way, then I they started sending even more emails, always asking for money,of course, but way too many of them trashing the NRA instead of dealing with issues. It wasn't hard to see they wanted me to divert any moneys I send to the NRA to them instead

Re: Does anyone know anything about NAGR, are they legit?
I also asked the NRA about NAGR and received the identical response. Just as my own, personal preference, I will continue to financially support only NRA because all anti-gun politicians rail against the NRA, but I never hear them railing against NAGR. Which makes me personally feel that NRA is far more effective in every way: they are credible, effective lobbyists, and it is NRA that the anti-gun politicians fear, not NAGR. So I feel that my best bang for the buck, if I'm going to contribute, is to send contributions to NRA-ILA...not NAGR. But I certainly wish NAGR no ill will.

On their website they're quite open about the fact that they spend 94% of their money on sending emails to members. Doesn't sound like a very action-oriented group, to put it mildly.

Re: Does anyone know anything about NAGR, are they legit?
I came across this thread searching for details of what I expected to be a scam. I get the dull looking e-mails from Dudley Brown of NAGR. I originally started getting them after signing up for a gun/ammo raffle on facebook. I've personally unsubscribed from these e-mails at least 10 times yet somehow magically get added back to the list. The e-mail in my spam filter today shows that I opted in to the list two days ago around 5:30PM EST, a day that I did nothing other than work and then go home and relax. I hadn't looked at anything gun related and certainly did not opt in to an e-mail list. Has anyone else had this experience of getting added back to their e-mail list after going through the unsubscribe?

Re: Does anyone know anything about NAGR, are they legit?
I have not had any problem unsubscribing from their emails. I am an NAGR supporter. Got too many of Dudley's emails so unsubscribed. They stopped coming.
I have signed e-petitions that they have prepared. They are sending them to the politicians. Some were FAXs that they sent on my behalf. I have lived in The peoples Socialist Republic of Kalifornia for the past 30-years and have gotten letters from the California politicians in response to NAGR e-petitions that I have signed. Now that I am back in Pennsylvania after a 30+ year of absence, I will have to wait and see if the PA politicians respond the same way.

All I know is they spam my email from some new person all the time. Everytime I unsubscribe, it's the same email host company.

Re: Does anyone know anything about NAGR, are they legit?
NAGR sends an annoying amount of emails. Slightly less postal spam than the NRA.
They do several things I like.
Postal service Lawsuit
They do nice Gun/ammo raffles
They occasionally send post cards or letters to mail in to your elected officials. I believe postal mail is more effective than e-mails
Their petitions also seem effective, and well though out.
I believe supporting them is helpful. They seem to be slightly more aggressive on State issues than the NRA.
Would I support the NAGR over the NRA? No, I believe everyone should support the NRA, and also support one or two other groups. I do not like their Anti-NRA tactics, & some people, especially PA Gun Blog do not like them.Last edited by PAMedic=F|A=; November 29th, 2013 at 09:55 AM.

I get spam from them all the time with their "ammo give away". Let's be honest, who really knows if they ever give ammo away or just say they do to spam you more?

Re: Does anyone know anything about NAGR, are they legit?
I joined all the smaller nationals gun rights organizations at one time or another. (GOA, NAGR and SAF) and have found that not only are the smaller organizations pesty, but I do not ever see any results. I have signed hundreds of their petitions and never seen where they actually did anything with them or they had no effect. Being retired now I cannot waste money on things that show no results, so I am only a life member of the NRA and a yearly member of SAF as these groups have actually gotten results.
