Odd AK pistol grip?
I see these types of pistol grips on a california website for guns... Is it for a legal purpose?

yes, that does not meet the California definition of a pistolgrip under california Assault weapon law, so some enterprising soul made a "loophole grip"

Re: Odd AK pistol grip?
AFAIK, they also have to have some kind of "bullet-button" mag release, so that they MUST use the tip of a bullet itself to depress a button and release the mag, as opposed to a conventional mag catch.
The logic is that this slows the potential to do a quick mag change, and allows time for the Di-Fi-Losi's that run America's Fruit/Nut House time to beat the perp with sandels and granola bars.
Except for LA and suburbs of course.
And I thought there was also some bizarre reqt that if the centerfire AK DOES have a pistol-grip - then it has to be a slide-action pump-gun, as opposed to being a straight semi-auto.
I always remind myself of the above antime I find myself bitching about PA politics, taxes, weather - it REALLY could be freakin worse. All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Cali's laws are strange to say the least but it something like if you don't have the PG you don't need the "bullet button" mag release. If you have a PG you need the "bullet button".
Also, unless you put a barrel extension on, you can't have a folding stock. But if you have a barrel extension (even removable) you can have a folding stock. You just can't shoot the gun w/o the barrel extension.
Semis are fine if they are in the "right" configuration.
