well, since noone responded, you may be better off sending it out to a place to have it done. Must go through FFL, but its entirely up to you. Unless of course you know a place that engraves plaques and such, they could possibly do it. But there your taking a risk of them messing it up. If a SBR reciever gets messed up beyond usage I believe you can not swap S/N's.

I took mine to a guy in lansdale and he did a good job. I'm sure thats pretty far from you though.

You can engrave all of the info (except serial number) on the barrel.

    Not exactally correct.
If the shop you are sending it to has a FFL, you can ship it directly to them.
I have used Ident Marking Services in TX.
I shipped it using an overnight service. Like others...it did not need to be stripped but I did remove the buffer, spring and tube to reduce the weight.

They did a fantastic job and the turnaround was about one week.
Use this link and send them a message...http://www.identmarking.com/contact.php
Clean professional work, prices were good and the fast turnaround was fantastic.
I had them do two AR lowers- one SBR stamp is back and the other is still pending. I am sending off my SW-5 next and I am picking up another AR lower as well.
