I just brought home a texas Defender. I traded in a er2000 for this one. The barrels are 9mm, .357, 22lr, and the 410 / 45 long colt.

Nice little setup!
2 shots should be that is needed for this particular application. F-I-L basically fishes at local ponds and such....not much needed for the 2 legged problems that arise...more for snakes and such that may be a problem when trudging thru the high grass, etc.
A revolver would be OK too...but to just have something smaller and easier to carry around in your pocket or in a tackle bag is better.
Bond Arms makes a very nice little derringer! Solid and less moving parts makes it (IMHO) very reliable.
