ACT 235 Certification
I was checking out the PA website on ACT 235, but the instructions are somewhat jumbled. Could anyone give a step by step procedure for ACT 235 Certification Application?
Also, which school would you recommend for Firearms training?
Apparently US Military training counts for nothing as far as ACT 235 is concerned. Not a big deal. One can never have too much Training!

Re: ACT 235 Certification
Howdy,
Unless Phlly has an odd requirement (God forbid that they would do that),
1. fill out app
2. make appointment with PSP for prints, get done, pay PSP
3. visit shrink and MD, have them send in the results to PSP, be sure that the docs you choose will do 235 tests, pay docs
4. wait for letter from PSP stating that you are cleared to take class
5. schedule and take class, pay school, and pay second fee for PSP
6. wait for card
You can follow the progress of your app on line, the link is in the PSP website.
I went to Star in Scranton, way to far for you.
Good luck!

Re: ACT 235 Certification
There are a several posts here about Act 235 as well, if you are looking for more info from people that have taken it and are already Act 235 "Certified Agents"..
Just type in "Act 235" in the search terms field and it will pull them up.
Good luck.

I went to Classic Pistol in Bucks County in November. Quick, easy, and professional location. They actually offer classes quite often. Other schools on the PSP site in the Philly region do not offer them.

Re: ACT 235 Certification
I remember the first time I saw the list of approved PSP schools I contacted them. Many, although authorized did not give the class or did them rarely. There are a few in Philly that actually help you with the whole process, set up the physical,psych.,prints,etc. Can't rember which ones though. The range in south Philly around 8th & Ellsworth gives the class regularly. Community Colleges also give the class.

Re: ACT 235 Certification
+1 for Keith at Classic Pistol if you're in the Northeast. I took the course back in March, still haven't found a job with it in the area that pays more then I'm making now but it was a fun course and I'll just keep looking. Also I recommend the doctors listed on ready aim fire's website.
