    Default spring advise

    ok so about 2 months ago i was cleaning out my taurus 85. i took the cylinder and yoke off and while i was handling it the cylinder stop spring and plunger went flying. i was wondeering where to get a new spring for me since i found the plunger but the spring is MIA. i called taurus and the guy told me he doesnt know what i was talking about... im not sure what part number it is but when i looked it up on their site it showed as part 12 in the taurus 85 parts diagram... called cylinder stop plunger and spring.. i did a little research but couldnt find one... any suggestions??

    Call them back and give them the part number they will send you a new one.

    If Taurus won't send you one, go to Brownells and see if they have it listed in their gun schematics section.

    I know this is no help to you but may be to others: this is one of the reasons one buys a Smith & Wesson. They have employees who know what parts are in their guns, they speak English, and they actually try to help their customers.

    I am sorry that your Taurus is broken, the advice of the two previous posters sounds reasonable.

    ps: next time you take a pistol apart use a large glad sandwich bag, it helps keep those small springs from flying away

    yeah thanks for the help guys... althought its not my main carry gun i started carrying it in a pocket holser cuz of the size and with good ammo im not worried about it... i just wish i wasnt a bonehead when i took it apart.... and that my floor didnt have cracks in them.... hopefully i can get that spring soon... and i need to refinish the gun cuz the bluing looks terrible... maybe get some gunkote stuff and go a tac-green or tan and black cylinder.... who knows... ill let you guys know and post up some pics in the correct thread..

    well i finally called taurus with the serial number.... and lets just say i was pleasantly suprised... convo went like this

    me: i need a spring

    him: sure here it is, whats your address?

    gave him my address

    him: well sir.. its on its way...

    me: I dont need to pay for it?

    him: Nope dont worry about it.. its on us

    WOW... and after that i had a great day...after all the horror stories ive heard i have to say im pretty impressed with taurus... and i am now willing to but that 1911 they have...
