Thanks, they're $4.40 now but definitely something to look into.

Save your money ,if your gun is the same as a mossy 500 , it doesn't have a firing pin spring . Listen to Jeff .

That would be a new one to me! After reading the OP I checked a 500 bolt and even looked at Numrich's drawing incase it was an update and in both cases a firing pin spring is present! The spring would definately eliminate forward motion of the pin from momentum.

I stand corrected . I bought 2 mossbergs back in the late sixtys and neither have return springs and never had any problems with either . Guess I'm just lucky .

yup, that spring is missing. looked on some other websites and forums that had pictures and that spring is nowhere to be found on my shotgun. thanks for the input guys! The only thing I couldn't find was detailed bolt dis-assembly pics, guess I'll just have to have at it with my punches

ETA: I see from Midway USA's website that there's also supposed to be a firing pin washer in there with the spring. Can anyone tell me if it's supposed to go in front of or behind the spring please?

nevermind, finally found an excellent detailed view of the bolt assembly and parts needed. Looks like I need a firing pin spring and washer.

    Thanks everyone!

So since I am now waiting for 2 parts that I need, that cost me a total of $4. and change, I decided to give my Mossberg a new wardrobe:

    rough assembly with no internals:

ETA: I also have a new for-end coming since I hate this one!

Really wish they didn't discontinue the ar-15 style fake muzzle brake for these, that would have really topped it off!

Might paint flat black over it so when it wears through it has nice olive drab highlights...lol

Well...she's all back together. Turns out the 600 AT doesn't need the firing pin washer, just the spring. I like the new fore end much better. She operates and locks up so much tighter now with the spring in place.

Thanks, first I put both the spring and washer in and it wouldn't function. Took out the washer and ,as far as I can tell until I get to fire it, it functions fine and actually feels like it's supposed to.
