I was looking into buying one of these does any one own one or much about them. Looks like it is in good condition has a bushnell scope 3-9. How much are they worth.

I had a buddy that bought one not a bad rifle or round definitely more powerful then a 22LR. But if wanted another varminter or plinker I'd look at the .17 rifle and ammo. The 22 mag would be a close 2nd.

I have the 782, which is the detachable mag version. Despite not getting much of a chance to shoot the gun, I do like it quite a bit. I got mine for groundhogs but really only use it at the range anymore. It does hold its own on paper. The biggest downside to the gun though is definitely ammo cost. Cheap 22 mag ammo runs $7 a box, with the average box selling for more like $10 around here. Definitely not the cheapest to shoot, but still a fun gun.

Oh, and I paid $140 for mine with a rimfire scope (both used) a few years ago.

    I hope you bought it.
I have one bought used about 6 years ago, made in 1975. I have shot out the ten ring at 100 yards with it - on a windy day! It is a great rifle - I exchanged the factory trigger spring for a section of a pen spring, and it is just a great shooting rifle to 150 yards. Sight it 1 3/4" high at 100 yards and you will be right on at 125 and 3" low at 150 with a 40 grain bullet.
Mine hasa 3x9 Simmons deer scope on it, and I will be replacing the see-thru rings with heavy duty steel Weavers next week.
Many people tell me to never sell this rifle, and I'm telling you the same thing.
Buy it, keep it, enjoy it.

I bought a Marlin 25MN about fifteen years ago for when I wanted to plink or small game hunt with something more powerful than the 22lr. I put a 4x Simmons on it and it works fine.

I have the Marlin Model 783. My dad had bought it at an estate sale for $50 and gave it to me a few weeks ago. This one hadn't been very well taken care of and was in rough shape, but I cleaned it up and refinished the stock and it's now a nice looking rifle. I'm not sure how old it is, but it came with a Japanese made 4x15 Tasco scope, so I'm assuming it was made in the 60's or 70's. Even with the cheap old Tasco scope, I was surprised the first time I took it to the range to consistently put rounds in the 9 and 10 ring at 100 yards with an overall grouping of about 3 to 3.5 inches. A couple of days ago I replaced that old Tasco scope with a BSA 8-32x40 and took it to the range yesterday and after sighting it in, I was able to fire off a ten round grouping of 1.5 inches at 50 yards. It's a fun little rifle to shoot and very accurate, so my advice would be if you can pick one up for less than $150 to go for it. Good luck!
