    Default Handgun Transfer Help

Anyone with any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

My father (PA resident) would like to give me (PA resident) a handgun he purchased several years ago. He said that we need to complete the transfer at the dealer and pay a transfer fee. I checked the PA Crimes Code (section c) and if I am interpreting it correctly; we are NOT required to do so since we are family.

Am I interpreting this correctly or do we in fact need to complete this at the dealership and pay??

    thanks!

You ARE reading it correctly. A firearm may be gifted from father to son without going through the transfer process.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Gifted or sold. And as long as both are PA residents at the time of transfer
