Minimum Training for CC
What would you consider the minimum level of training for a new CC owner?
Can recommended training be gleaned from articles or books currently available or must some/essential training be in a clasroom environment?
Many thanks!

First of all, you can't teach common sense.
Be that as it may, you'll want to learn safety 1st.
How the laws are set up and how they apply to you, 2nd.
And 3rd, how to effectively minimize your chances of becoming a victim and what self defense tactics are more effective.
This forum is a great place to start. Just browse and soon enough, you'll know what to look for.==============
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it."
~Thomas Jefferson, 1791

Well, some say, that gun owners don't need no stinking training. It is somewhat true. But I believe that responsible person should at least memorize NRA basic rules of gun safety. Or basic firearm safety from the broshure, that you can get in every gun store. This will be a good start.

Re: Minimum Training for CC
Are you talking about theoretical state-mandated training courses, or just something that you think you should do on your own?
My idea of training - being able to consistently hit near center of target at 7 yards and being able to draw cleanly. Safety concerns are obvious and should be learned as soon as one starts shooting and way before considering to carry.

Re: Minimum Training for CC
Not only read and watch every thing pertaining to the safe handling and responsibility of concealed carry but attend live trainings. Take a basic NRA handgun safety course and work your way up until your proficient with a lot of range time. Practice drills shooting from a holster, shooting one handed, weak side versus strong side, situational awareness, etc. You also should be aware of defensive shooting practices and the legalities of carrying a gun. You have some great resources at this forum as to trainings available. Good luck!
