    Default Future weaponry

Pascal Eggert, a designer with a very vast imagination, has come up with three assault rifle designs that are outright ridiculous. Keep in mind, these weapons aren't prototypes, they're just designs, they don't exist. To me, this is just gun porn, but it gives you an idea of where things may be headed in the future...

    Titan C2
What he calls "Artillery for your pocket"

    It fires "stacked" ammunition.

He calls this one, the "Thor"

An SMG type weapon that fires 50 rounds of 5.56x45 using what he calls a "C-Mag"

And this is his most ridiculous design yet...

The "Engine Powered Induction Combatrifle" or "E.P.I.C."

    A gun with an engine...

The cartridge concept is over 180 years old. Ammunition efficiency is an objective that’s been pursued for longer than just a day. About 50% of the weight and 40% of the volume of a cal 5.56 Nato are made up of the cartridge and gunpowder. The actual bullet itself is relatively small. So, caseless ammunition has a lot of potential: it could either be significantly smaller and lighter, or much more powerful. The biggest problem with modern caseless ammunition is the heat sensitivity, and the resulting "cook off" at a relatively low temperature of around 170° Celsius. In laymen’s terms, this means the will gun fire spontaneously without pulling the trigger.
This problem was addressed in an unusual manner, in the case of the EPIC.

An induction engine in the stock vacuums a propellant from the caseless ammunition, mixes and compresses it with air, and ignites it through a spark plug. 50% of the emerging energy is directly converted into energy in order to fire the "Solenoid Barrel®", which accelerates and stabilizes the free floating bullets, thus making the EPIC A1 low on recoil and high on accuracy, while maintaining a compact and light architecture. Most importantly, a single bullet serves as a whole round, which means more penetration power and more space for more ammunition. More bang for your buck, essentially.

Utilizing a titanium space frame for lightweight and dual mag feeding.

    "Easily" field strip-able.

What I thought was interesting was his "aimpoint" design.

The revolutionary VISYOtec K2 Tactical Aimpoint. Thanks to the crystal clear digitalzoom, you'll see what's going on, no matter if day or night.

The first concept is possible to create right now, the basic technilogy for the ammo exists in the FireStorm system, and the 'recoiless' barrels have existed since the German WWII 'ack-ack' guns.

The sight idea is currently available technology, but probably too battery-hungry for combat troops, plus the fact that a backlighted LCD screen would be like firing up a searchlight for starscopes.

I see a few basic problems with just the first one as far as actual function, but it's good to think outside the box. Worthwhile ideas can come out of exercises like these.

I used to design stuff like this in fourth grade math class when I was supposed to be paying attention to the teacher.

Granted they were pencil sketches, as computers had not been invented yet.
