Daisytown Sportsmen's Club
Is anyone a member at daisytown sportsmen's club? I'm looking for a shooting range in the Johnstown (Geistown) area that's not too far. I checked out the website and saw the application and meeting times so it's a start I just wanted to get opinions or any other suggestions of places to look at. Thanks in advance.

Re: Daisytown Sportsmen's Club
I've heard a lot of good things about Daisytown Sportsmen's Club.
It depends on what you are looking for. There are several sportsman's clubs in the area. There are two indoor ranges that I know of: Ferndale Sportsman's Club and one in the basement of the Greater Johnstown Area Middle School. I think both are pistol and .22 only. There is a PGC range out by Homer City on 56 too.
If you are just looking for a range to plink a bit and zero rifles, any of the ones in the area should be good. If you are looking for a range where you can conduct more self-defense oriented training, Daisytown's club is more accommodating from what I have heard.
Maybe this will be the year that I finally go and check it out for myself/get a membership. Let me know what you figure out.

Re: Daisytown Sportsmen's Club
Thanks for the info. Daisytown is nice and close for me and I'm going to try and go to the fun shoot tomorrow, thanks for pointing that out I missed it on the website. Prices aren't bad either and it seems like they have a good facility.
Will anyone be going up for the fun shoot tomorrow?

Re: Daisytown Sportsmen's Club
So, I went up to the shoot yesterday it was a good time and they had a few different things set up to try out. A bunch of pistols, rifles and even a few muzzle loaders.
I tried the Ruger LCP since I'm in the market for a pocket pistol. It shot nice and wasn't much recoil at all. Also tried the muzzle loader to shoot and axe and break a balloon on both sides (I failed, shocker there lol) and shot a few times with .223 Rifle at 200yds.
There was a bunch of young kids with their parents who could shoot really well, darn the video games now a days making me look bad . Over all really nice place and I ended up joining. Going to the meeting next week to hopefully get my membership and key.Last edited by daw4455; June 16th, 2010 at 09:56 AM.
