    New county sheriff sworn in

WILKES-BARRE -- Luzerne County's newest sheriff was sworn in Thursday morning by Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas Senior Judge Patrick Toole.

John T. Gilligan, the county's 60th sheriff, took the oath of office Thursday morning before a crowd of family, friends and colleagues at the Luzerne County Courthouse.

Gilligan said his first task is to familiarize himself with the sheriff's department and then speak with each sheriff deputy on what they think is right and wrong within the department.

Probably not too worried about it Bigger fish to fry... there's like a new corruption charge brought against someone every week. Insane times to live in.

I don't know this sheriff's views, but it's a great opportunity to educate him on the law regarding the issuance of LTCF's, as the documents I have show that Luzerne is overcharging.

Thank you for posting this, I will be sending the new sheriff a letter as a result. This is definitely an opening to set some things right.

Besides which, he is only interim until the next election. That which is appointed can be unappointed.

I was talking to a buddy the other day(just after my previous post) and he told me in passing that he was having a hard time renewing his LTCF. No reason on earth that he should. He thinks that it's because no one knows what the new policy is. Just a FYI.
