Default HK G36K project is DONE!

    I'm in LOVE!!!

She started out as an SL8-1 at Quinby's in Dublin. After about two years, I sold my Desert Eagle and my HK USC to fund the conversion parts and the build cost.

The idea behind this is that theres usually two types of G36 conversions out there. One like mine, or one like this:

Look how much more length of pull there is on this common conversion!

On the conversion I have, the back section of the SL8 recevier is precision milled and the rear-stub of a demilled G36 is plastic welded (and reinforced with a steel plate) to the SL8 recevier. This process is very time consuming and extremely technical. It is not for the average do-it-yourselfer. To comply with Federal Law, the rear of the SL8 receiver is carefully trimmed off around the s/n plate as never to detach it from the receiver. This conversion style does require the recevier to be refinished during the conversion process. If you are on a budget or do not like the idea of having your receiver refinished, then this conversion style is not for you. The end result however, is the closest thing you can get to a cosmetically correct civillian-legal semi-auto G36.

Here's the details on how it's done:

    The rear section: http://hkpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81580

    The Mag well: http://hkpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=112094

    The cost:
    $1400 for the Rifle.
    $400 for the 922(r) parts.
    $985 for the conversion parts.
$1500 for build cost, dye job, and return shipping

A 3 month wait, usually close to 9 months, but the builder and I worked out a deal. Its not in my hands JUST YET. Few more days till its test fired, and shipped.

    IM EXCITED!!

    Awesome!

Best I was hoping for was to get a top-tier brand of airsoft G36K, gut it of its' electronics, and hide my Remmy 597 with 30rd mag inside.

    You da man!

I gotta agree with you on that one. Absolutely awesome. My little brother has an airsoft M14 that cost him like $300. I'm trying to get him to let me tear it apart and cram a 10/22 in it. I don't think he's ever gonna go for it.

I wouldn't blame him! You can find "springer" spring-powered airsoft M14s all over ebay for mucho $$ under $300.00; like maybe $25.00! Downside is there all ABS, as opposed to the high-end M14's of metal, wood.

I thought of a 10/22 project before, but the front-sight is fixed, unlike a Remmy 597 - that hoses up a P90, G36, AUG conversion.

I gave up and sold the 597 to a board member here, but rethinking the 10/22for one of these:

Meanwhile; let's all hope for more affordable ways of converting an SL8!

In 30 years when I'm a millionaire I'm going to buy/build this gun. Until then, I will continue to look at these pictures and wish I were as cool as you...
