    Default Pittsburgh Area Practice Range???

    Help...

I'm visiting from Philadelphia and staying in the Downtown Pittsburgh area. Are there any indoor or outdoor shooting ranges that I can pay to shoot at or free is always better? Would like to get a few practice rounds in.

Any advice assistance would be great, thank you in advance!

If you're going to be here Sunday you can come to the group shoot. $5 bucks and more shooing fun than you can shake a stick at.

    Did he mention the bacon?

Aside from that, there's Anthony Arms for indoor shooting that's open to the public. (but it will cost you a boatload, as you also have to buy their ammo)

There really are very few places that are open to the public. The up side to living here is that there are oodles of clubs to join.

Come on out to the group shoot if you get the chance!

    State Game Lands

    Price: Free

    Pistol at 12, 25 yds
    Rifle at 25,50,100 yds

Weekday in the morning is the best time. Later in the afternoon and on weekends people with less than adequate firearm handling skills have been known to show up.

    Hours are Mon-Sat 8AM-Sunset Sun Noon-Sunset

Ammo limits are 3 for long gun 6 for hand gun. I have seen the local authorities hand out fines.

I've has some free time due to the recent economy so I've been up a few times the morning to early afternoon Mon-Fri with no problems. Went with a buddy last Sat and even with a light bit of rain by 12:30 assholes started coming out of the wood work.

PM me if you want a shooting partner.

If you are going to be visiting this weekend, the group shoot is the place to be.

If you are coming another time, there are no "must shoot" ranges. You have the SGL or a pay for use range. The pay for ranges are pretty similar to SPAG (I'm from Philly). At least SPAG lets you pay $10 and shoot your own rifle or pistol ammo. The public indoor ranges in Pittsburgh I know are pistol only and must buy their ammo.

Unfortunately I'm only here Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, it sounds like the Group Shoot would be a lot of fun.

I did find Anthony Arms and A&S Indoor, neither are really close to downtown, but...are these okay places? Can I bring my own ammo?

Anthony's is a decent place, but you have to buy their ammo. Plus, their shop isn't the nicest right now because of a roof leak.. when I went in this weekend, it was like a waterfall. (But the range is fine)
