Re: CNN Pushes Gun Control in Philadelphia, Blames Concealed Carry for Crime

It's called sarcasm. Some might find it humorous.
Canada is that socialist utopia to our north that hates us and our gun laws. Their press and politicians blame their failed gun control schemes on the USA.

Re: CNN Pushes Gun Control in Philadelphia, Blames Concealed Carry for Crime
I know that blaming Philadelphia's violent crime problem on legal gun ownership in PA is stupid and is confusing correlation (of a very small sample, btw) with causation. Why is it so bad there though? Is there any evidence that concealed carry permits for legal citizens are beginning to make a positive difference?

Re: CNN Pushes Gun Control in Philadelphia, Blames Concealed Carry for Crime
I caught some of the coverage and heard State Senator Vince Fumo. He
said I believe that the problem was "ENFORCEMENT" of present laws, that
new ones were not the probloem. So it conjures up the thoughts that the
District Attorneys of the City of Philadelphia, along with the Police Department
are not effectively addressing the problem. I have no stats to support the
following questions:
What percentage of Suspects, have past criminal records and have been
introduced to the alleged criminal justice system?
How many are presently on Parole, Probation at the County, State, or
Federal level?
How many times has the the charge of Carrying a weapon in the commission
of a crime been plea bargained out, or applied concurrent instead of conseut-
ively to sentences.
I seem to recall a thread posted here about 1.4 million warrants were out-
standing in the Comm. of PA. , from parking tickets to homocide. Wether this
figure has gone down or up indicates a system that is becoming overburdend
and cell space in city, county, state facilities has reached breaking points. So
if there not locking them up, where or what they are going to do is not
straighten there lives out, but continue to commit crimes, and with guns and
kill or be killed. I would bet money that it is a small percentage of these that
are responsible for committing the largest amount of crimes with illegally
possessed firearms. Just my humble opinion.FUNDAMENTALS
