Default Difference between HK USP .45 and HK Custom Combat

I'm not sure if this has been hashed yet, but I guess it's a question for all you HK lovers out there.

I've long been in love with the HK USP .45. I've finally saved enough money to get one, but then saw a photo on the internet. From all I can find, I saw an HK Custom Combat in .45acp. I've attached the photo from gunbroker.com. I absolutely love the look of the tan with black grips.

I was wondering if anyone knows the differences between the two. And would it be worth the extra money for a recreational shooter. I'm sure I'd have to buy a custom combat used, but that's okay with me. Any input would be appreciated!

From what I'm reading, the only differences are:
the frame color (which can be desert tan or od green)
the high viz sights with a fiber optic front sight
    the sandpaper grip panels

The 9mm and 40 ones apparently come with the jet funnel for higher capacity mags, but not the 45.

Here is a picture I found of one in od green (with the jet funnel):

There is also the combat competition, which is the custom combat with a hybrid match/LEM trigger.

Also, there are regular usp's with desert tan and od green frames.

IIRC the custom combat also has an O ring on the barrel, I don't think my USP did.

Is there an advantage to having an O ring on the barrel?

Sounds like there's just a few upgrades. Anyone know how pricing differs between the standard USP and Custom Combat?

    from the high road:

the only difference between the two is that you don't get a decent trigger with the Custom Combat USP. Otherwise, they're the same gun--jet funnel, Novak sights, etc, etc.

That O-ring allows the barrel to fit tightly to the front of the slide and makes the gun more of a tack driver than the USP already is. I had a USP Expert .45 and it was by far the best gun I have yet owned and I would drop the $1200 on another in a heartbeat if I could.

SCBaldr: Good to know. I guess you'd have to keep a packet of o-rings on hand, I could see them wearing out fairly easily with all that friction. It's nice to know it would have the added accuracy. Again, I don't see myself using it in competition, but I do love the way they look.

I never had to replace my O-ring, though it might have needed it after a few thousand rounds. Funny I never really thought of the O-ring wearing out. I think as long as you keep it clean and lubed, the synthetic rubber material should last as long as the gun.

I'm not sure what to expect as far as o ring life either. I'm waiting for my HK45c now so we'll see what they say and how it seems when I get it. i know they say minimum service life of 20k rounds, I don't know if it would last that long but as pointed out, if you keep it clean and lubed it may.

I liked the USPc I had in 40 for the most part, I really liked the LEM HK45 but i think that the HK45c is probably, for me, the best compromise. I would suggest checking with CDNN, they had some decent deals on USPs the last I saw.
