Tips for a smooth double action trigger pull?
My Taurus PT92 has a pretty heavy trigger in double action and it always pulls me off target. I try to use a smooth pull but it doesn't work and I just end up manually cocking the hammer and going single action. Does anyone have a similar trigger pull and maybe have a technique for that? Is trigger pull something a gunsmith can lighten? Thanks.

Re: Tips for a smooth double action trigger pull?
I just bought some snap caps for my .45 and my 9mm so I can dry fire them over and over. Hopefully that will help.

If it is like the Beretta 92, you can try replacing the mainspring with a D spring. It helps a little. Don't expect a miracle though.
Also make sure you are pulling the trigger correctly. If you pull the trigger the same in double and single action, you are probably doing it wrong.

fwiw...
i have seen more than one student decide to sell his DA/SA gun and buy a SA only (i.e., 1911) or striker-fired gun after struggling through a basic pistol course with the DA/SA gun...and then trying out other people's guns at the end and finding them sooooo much easier to shoot well.F*S=k

Re: Tips for a smooth double action trigger pull?
The placement of your finger on the trigger has so very much to do with it. Then, how you wrap your hand around the gun. Then, the muscles you (concentrate here) use to exert pressure on the trigger.
IOW, don't exert effort in gripping tighter when you are only interested in moving your trigger finger back.
Yeah, I know it is hard, but that is the drill all the really good shooters have mastered (or almost).

Re: Tips for a smooth double action trigger pull?
So what I'm thinking is that I need to do is use the tip of my finger for the double action pull and squeeze the single action trigger. I just need to practice it until it becomes muscle memory. Can't wait for those snap caps.
