Default Obama to speak at CMU tomorrow

    http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_683613.html

President Obama is scheduled to visit Carnegie Mellon University on Wednesday, a White House official said Friday.

Congressman Mike Doyle, D-Forest Hills, said the president will talk about small businesses and the economy.

"He will be making similar stops across the state," Doyle said.

More details about Obama's visit were to be made available today. The White House and university officials declined to provide a reason for the visit, its location and who would be allowed to attend.

Obama last visited the campus as a candidate on June 26, 2008, about three weeks after he clinched the Democratic nomination. This would be his first visit as president.

"We're just thrilled," said Teresa Thomas, spokeswoman for Carnegie Mellon

I know I'm thrilled. They are taking over most of the parking and security is going to be hell.

    That ought to be interesting.

Good luck if you have to go anywhere near Oakland tomorrow!

Thumbs down Re: Obama to speak at CMU tomorrow

Imagine if this would've been during the semester... fuckin ay...

They had Kerry there in '04 too. I'm a CMU alum (ChemE) and I always hated their two-faced stance on politics. NObama and Kerry and chippy liberal students are cool, but they don't mind taking the $$ for defense research. I guess that is redeeming. RedZone robotics and some of the other affiliated labs do some cools stuff for defense tech.

offshorebear, are you a current student (I feel like we've discussed this before, sry)? If so, ask around. I'm a legend on that campus. Write that down... lol
