Acquired sometime in 2014, manufactured in 2000.

    Neither is an AR15.

Sure, you have the same POTENTIAL lethality per round. But when you got a M4A1/M16A4 spitting out rounds at a rate of (I believe) 900 rounds-per-minute compared to a civilian AR15-platform firing as fast as a person can pull the trigger...well...its not really the same class anymore.

Under the Miller (1939) decision, we SHOULD have access to any firearm any individual soldier in the military can be issued in the fulfillment of their duties. Unfortunately, due to the Hughes Amendment we're screwed.
Full auto fire you're looking at more like 30 rounds of wasted ammo in less than 3 seconds. You're not that outclassed with a semi-auto rifle versus a select fire rifle in an 1 on 1.

In actual warfare you may see a difference since the select fire rifle will give the one side fire superiority potential, but what is really going to give that advantage is a crew served weapon such as the M249 or M240.

Skill of the shooters is going to play a much more significant role anyways unless one side has access to supportive fire or other weapon systems like armored vehicles, or air support.

Really? I thought that they had to, just like Ford puts "Cobra" on every car.

Not being an AR-15 meant that it wasn't a "regulated firearm" in Maryland so I could sell them with my FFL and no Maryland license.

I thought that the wasted ammo on full auto is why the A2 had a three round burst.

This is actually another taste of how fucked up the ATF is in regards to the trademarked name. If you submit say a form 1 to SBR a lower and it's a Colt, "AR15" is acceptable as the model of the gun. Other manufacturers are subject to the true description i.e. Noveske N4, PSA PA-15 BCM - BCM4 etc. if you want a 100% chance of acceptance.

In your hypotheoretical case of course they would all be AR15z

some AR15 have same barrel ,reciever and lower as full auto ,there are some AR15 that are converted for select fire -theres AR15 manufacturers that have special orders for LEO and Military. They both use the same materials minus the select fire and hydralic buffer and full auto carrier.

My Windham MPC has a machine gun barrel , same material as Full auto in Upper and lower minus the select fire and hydralic buffer- i even have a full auto M16 BCG and M4 feedramps.

Colt has civilan versions and Military they both share same parts except the select fire and hydralic buffer.
