Re: Philadelphia County Members
We are on the ground floor of a local pro gun org.
People are working on range education programs, meeting places, relationships with local clubs, ranges, shops, trainers, etc.
This is hoping to be a centralized portal providing local shooting events, local training events, local political issues, local meetings regarding shooting/hunting issues, basically getting people out of their homes and to the range or beef and beer, etc.. in the Greater Philadelphia area.
check www.protectthe2nd.us
There will be membership applications.
They are working on this to be a centralized hub for the Greater Philadelphia area.
Right now one of the owners of the site is organizing a Ladies day on the range.
The FOAC will handle the political end of things with their reps and agenda, while the rest of the localized things should come into play with the membership of www.protectthe2nd.us
That is the goal anyway. Everything takes time.
Email protectthe2nd@gmail.com with your contact information.
We are going to try and involve:
Holmsberg Fish & Game
Langhorn Rod and Gun
The FOAC Regional Rep
Pennsylvania State Federation of Sportsmen Clubs
Unified Sportsmen of Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania Rifle and Pistol Association
Eventually try and get the Local universities to have shooting teams. (Nice to Dream)
The point being, Philadelphia is very unorganized. There are some places to shoot. People need to get involved and off their butts. Through social gatherings, shooting events, membership, and local political involvement (FOAC), we should be able to keep our state as a pro 2A place to live and shoot.
Right now I have fund raising tickets for a Ruger 38 LCR. $5 for 1; 3 for $10 | Drawing to be held July 4th (PM me if interested)
There are T-shirts following, bumper stickers etc.
Great Ideas, takes work, help, and funding.Last edited by thefirstndsecond; May 29th, 2010 at 10:23 AM.

Re: Philadelphia County Members
Oddly enough, for about 30+ years the Philadelphia Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs has been doing just that (they meet at Holmesburg, which was a member).
A lot of the old members have passed on and new blood would be more than welcome.
Aside from putting on Youth Field Days, testifying on legislative and Game Commission matters and helping overcome the opposition of FOAC to mandatory carry permits for Philadelphia, the raising of the $250,000 in legal fees that it took to uphold statewide preemption was its proudest moment.Last edited by Mocha Java; May 29th, 2010 at 11:46 PM.

Re: Philadelphia County Members
I attended Drexel University and they had an indoor range on the roof of the Main Building. Unfortunately, the University did not sponsor a team ... it was BYO.
I dont have a match rifle, so I personally did not participate but I know that the range was used frequently.

Re: Philadelphia County Members
Sounds very cool. I'm new to PAFOA and fairly new to gun ownership, but consider me interested. I'm in Mayfair and looking to get out this summer and meet up with some folks to some of the local ranges.

Re: Philadelphia County Members
I believe what the person is saying, over come those against the FOAC and the idea of needing a LTCF in Philadelphia to OC.. maybe...
I went to Drexel. I knew nothing about any shooting team.
By the way, on the rear of my LTCF it reads, "Property of the Philadelphia Police Department. If this Permit is confiscated or found, promptly forward the PERMIT to the Philadelphia Police Department"
Interesting isn't it.
I have not seen this on others LTCF.

Re: Philadelphia County Members
The police have no authority to "confiscate" an LTCF. The law provides that it is the licensee's duty to return a revoked license, and the issuing authority has to give proper notification of the revocation anyway.
Then again, Philly apparently can't comprehend the law anyway, so I'm not surprised.
