Colt Det. Spl.38 Serial Number location`
Hi All,
I;ve just acquired a Colt Det. Spl, in .38 Cal. I'm looking for the serial number but cannot find it. There is a bit of rust so opening the cylinder is not yet possible. I was told the gun is approx. 40 years old but have no confirm on that yet.

Well, that's why you can't find it. When you get the cylinder freed up, it should be in the same place as it is on S&W wheelies, right on the frame right above where the crane pivots. I'm assuming you have the grips off and are soaking it in some type of oil?
