    Talking Sig Pro 2009

I just completed a trade for this and fired it last night. I LIKE IT! Much more fun to fire than my S&W 642. Must get used to saying "mag" not clip!

I shoot an SP2022, which is essentially the same gun but with a standard-sized rail. For me, it's been a great gun - affordable, accurate, great trigger, and a soft shooter. The most commonly bitched about downside from Sig snobs is the grip, which is large and more stylish than functional. I have medium-sized hands, and I find the mag release JUST a hair outside natural reach and had to adjust my grip to make it all work. Turns out, it was a good adjustment, and it allowed me to refine my combat grip, and I'm shooting even better now than before. The slide release (yeah, I know) is exactly under my thumb, and I can one-hand it if I need to. The decocker isn't great, though. It's got a long travel before it engages, and when it does, it takes a little leverage or my thumb slides off the control. I really want to two-hand the gun and pay attention to how I'm holding it before I activate the decocker.

I looked at one and the price was attractive but I ended up with a 229. Would definitely look at one again if the chance arises.

I have the DA version of the SP 2022. No worry about the decocker because it doesn't have one. Luckily the smaller grip fits my hand perfectly.

Good luck with your SIG 2009!

I have both, Sig Pro 2009 and 229... If you like the 2009 you will love the 229. Then 2009 is my range gun, 9mm and very accurate. I hate to say it but its a great beginner Sig. I have meathooks for hands so i love the big grips and yes the decocker takes some getting to use and is much smoother on the 229 but its a nice function and something you have to put in your training.

Oh and Congrats.... welcome to the addiction

Yldwill if you every want to go shooting in OLEY , hit me up...

I own 4 Sigs, 229, 22oc, 232 and 2009, The 2009 is an excellent gun, just like any other SIG but with a Polymer frame, tHey are no longer sold in the USA but SIG is selling millions of them in Europe.

    I love mine.
