Default would you use a bp revolver for carry?

i seen this in other forums, and since I have been on topic of black powder lately, i shall pose the question here. would you ever holster a black powder revolver, preferable say a 5 1/2 inch barrel for carry purposes, for self defense. either whether you just wanted to be different or you thought it would fit your needs? for my 2 cents i think i would, if all other handguns were banned OR if i wanted to carry to a place that i know that firepower would be sufficient (say a hiking trail as a BUG). but hey you never know....what say you?

I would say no but thats only me. But if all other handguns had been banned, I would consider it.

black powder is fun but I'd have to say no as a carry gun. the fact that they are a pain to empty when not in use and the fact that they are a PITA to clean would keep me from that.

Wonder what the laws are on carrying one since it isnt a firearm and therefore is not covered by your LTCF??

ignoring the inconvenience issues, keep in mind that the ballistics of a cap and ball revolver is pretty poor compared to a modern cartidge handgun. Even comparing a massive Colt Walker .44.....it comes up short. Now if you went with a .42 LeMat (9 .42's plus 1 16 ga.).........that might have some possibilities.....

I would think , if that's what you have and your resourses say that's all you can have for now, than , that's better than not. keep in mind that they are pretty tempermental. Store them in a hot car. the seal will fail. The powder left in for sometime will draw moisture. So you would have to change rounds periodically. I 've read on here before, Just by showing your weapon , most criminals will back off. However there might be that one time that you would need to use it. So you would (Like any other weapon) would have to be real famliar with it. Couldn't just let is set for months and pick it up and expect 100% reaction. Unlike my defense guns , sometimes I'll just pull them and clean them periodically. Except the one I carry of course.
