    Default Colt M-16

I'm considering buying a Colt M-16 mfg'd by Umarex in .22 LR as a fun gun. Does anyone have any experience with this weapon?

Go here, "Colt" sub-forum on RFC. All rimfire, all the time...

    http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...splay.php?f=68

Lottsa talk about the "Colt" M4rgery there.

I couldn't find diddly-squat on the Umarex 20" "M16A2" anywhere on the 'net, good luck with your quest.

Ruger SR-22 is IMHO the best semi-auto .22 out there, try one you will see

Thanks for the feedback and recommendations. I'll check out the S&W and Ruger as well.

No personal experience but I have not heard much good about the Umarex rifle. The S&W I have heard a lot of great reviews. If you already have an AR you should also look into the .22 conversion bolts and .22 uppers such as those from Spikes.

THe gun is actually built by Walther in Germany, its a quality gun, a bit over engineered thus the high price.

One neat feature is a selector switch that allows you to switch between low pressure ammo and hot ammo , neat.

Its a future collector piece that will be talked about 20-30 years from now.

The M&P 15-22's are reporting much fewer issues. The question is does the OP want an AR in .22, or a black .22 semi rifle?
Jeff Cooper was a huge supporter of gun games, when he was winning them at least...

In about 10 years this gun is going to worth about $2000-$2500 , like i said , its way over engineered , like an Audi or BMW so you will have reliability issues.

Actually Umarex doesnt make anything, its a German export company, The Gun is made by 2 of the best names in the firearms business Walther and Colt.

If its just a Plinker you want there are othwer cheaper more rel;iable Guns e.g a Ruger 10/22.
