Default How do you guys justify buying multiple models of the same gun?

I LOVE my 1911 but can't seem to understand how some of you guys justify buying 4 or 5 models of the same piece. Im not hating by any means! I am actually jealous. : )

I would just rather have an array of firearms than multiple copies of the same. Personally, I just try to limit my collection to the same calibers I already have pistols in.

Not to mention my old lady would most likely snap her optic nerves off at the root if I kept buying 1911's in different finishes lol. Shes cool about my impulsive buys as long as I can explain vocally what purpose it would serve. IE: HD, CCW, Cheap at the range, Easy for her to rack if she ever needed to, Etc.

    Thoughts?

It's easy to keep a handy supply of spare parts (springs, pins, etc.) when all of your guns are the same.

I guess that is true. Thats why I bought my 1911 because of the plethora of parts and the interchangeability of them between 1911 models no matter the make.

There can be big differences even in the same type so it's like different flavors of ice cream. One day you might be in the mood to shoot your Dan Wesson with full length guide rod, match grade barrel and beveled mag well (chocolate) and the next day maybe you're in a retro mood and go for the Colt Government 70 Series with it's old-school feel and back-to-basics internals (vanilla).

Plus for me, I'm a 1911 fan so something like a Glock doesn't do anything for me (blasphemy, I know) and I'd rather put my money into 1911s by different manufacturers.

But I definitely see where you're coming from. It can be nice to have a variety of styles too.

I have always purchased 2 of every weapon that I planned to carry. Why?
Well, here's what I do: I shoot both and find out which functions better and is more accurate....then I shoot the shit out of the other one in order to get familiar with it....then I usually sell the one with the high round count.

That's my MO....and the reason that I have a whole bunch of weapons with very low round counts.

    It works for me.

I understand your point and I bet if I were to shoot other flavors of 1911 I would change my tune. Personally, I think I would have a bigger smile on my face when I opened the safe and saw 7 different makes. Sig, HK, Beretta, Glock, Colt, FN, and a CZ than 7 of the same frame.

Variety is the spice of life, right? Makes no difference if it's guns or women

Survivalist POV: Being able to give everyone in your group(family, friends, whoever) the same gun, sharing the same ammo, using the same magazines, training on the same platform, etc. It goes a long way.

    I can't remember where I saw it but there's a guy who has 300+ Colt 1911's.
It was the first time I saw a pic. of a 1910.
