    Default Folding sights backwards?

I saw this on another forum and had to think about it a little.

He has Magpul BUIS. but the front sight is facing backwards. I was gonna say something but then realized that it shouldnt matter. once it flips up it should be fine when you get your sight picture.

    Or am I wrong?

it is an interesting solution to a feng shui problem of not enough real estate on the top rail of say a PS90.

All that matters is the height of the front sight post, and direction does not alter this.

It MAY work on the PS90, but it looks really awkward. I added a laser sight in addition to the HG-M2 holo. I only have the front MBUS and figure that if the other 2 fail at the same time, I'm so SOL that the window of the holo can roughly be used as the rear sight. More over, I will have 20 more rounds to miss with with the PS90

I would think that on such a short sight radius, any issues would not matter.

And i doubt that it would matter anyhow, once it is up, as long as it returns to the same place, it is up. I would wonder how it may snag on things, like if you are in a wooded environment, or on clothing / gear.

It does not matter AT ALL. What does the front sight do? It determines elevation only. Elevation is adjusted with the height of the front sight post (with this system at least). Since the elevation is the ONLY function of the FS, and the post happens to be the same height facing ANY direction, there is absolutely no issue. If you are using the firearms mentioned in defense, other issues become more obvious than which way the sight faces.
