Personally, I'd get the 9mm if you're super hard up for money. You can shoot more rounds for the same money. Having said that-- ever since begining to shot the .40 round, I've fallen in love with it for SD.

I had a Taurus 24/7 Pro Copmact DS that had alot of FTF's and FTE's in the first 200 or so rounds. After that, it ran very well. So, factoring in the "break in" ammo, the deal gets worse on Taurus. YMMV. I'd echo what others are saying and get the Glock, M&P, or Xd.

I traded my 24/7 on a G23 and am very happy. Also, I'm not a huge fan of manual safties on SD/carry guns. My preference.
