trying out handguns
I'm new to the forum.
I'm Steve. I've owned an M1 Garand and several 22 rifles.
I'm looking into buying my first handgun. I've been to several shops and have loved the feel of the Sig P226, the Glock 19, and the CZ82, but haven't had a chance to fire anything.
Where in Berks can I rent and try out firing hand guns to decide on my first purchase?Last edited by shuff500; May 23rd, 2010 at 03:11 AM.

I don't know of any in Berks but Philadelphia and Bucks has a lot of them. Regardless, odds are you will only get to shoot the Glock, maybe the Sig. Most rentals I've had/seen are Glocks because of price/durability. I mean would you want to put a $3000 Wilson Combat in your rental case and have it thrashed by anybody who walks into the range lol?

I know of Targetmaster and French Creek. They probably have glocks and sigs.

Welcome to the forum. You have come at a good time. Now that it is getting warmer there will be group get togethers and shoots coming up. If you attend one there would surely be some people there that will allow you to handle and try out various hand guns.
troll Free. It's all in your mind.

Re: trying out handguns
Targetmaster is quite a hike from you, but they have several models each of Glock, SIG, S&W, XD and a few others in the rental case. Different calibers and sizes. It's wise to try them. I thought a SIG 250 was for me, but I went in and tried a few. Glock doesn't work for me, didn't like the SIG at all, and bought an M&P that has worked out great -- for me. Way cheaper than buying the wrong gun and trading/selling later.
