Default Glock slide release... am I just weak lol?

So I just bought my first Glock... the 19. I love my new baby but I have the hardest time with the slide release. I actually have to use both thumps to actuate it. Is it because the gun is new, or is it a defect, or am I a weakling?

You're probably not hitting it at the right angle, or you're weak are my first guesses. You should just be able to press down with your thumb and it will release. Don't be scared, it won't bite. Just use some elbow grease.

If there is something wrong on the inside, if you can get it to work at all, there shouldn't really be a problem.

Right off the bat the release will be pretty strong, it will break in after a while. Starting out I just used to pull the slide back and release it instead of using the releases... I agree, though, on my Glock 19 it still is a little hard just using the releases...

its a glock, customize the hell out of it until its right for you. Maybe an extended slide release would work better for you. check www.rockyourglock.com for parts.

A Glock does not have a slide release.

As far as Im concerned, that little chunck of metal is just a technicality. Either load the mag or drop it out and slingshot it. If you must use it Im sure it will loosen up after a few hundred rounds.

Ding ding ding... we have a winner.

Screw the slide release. Oh, and if you are trying to actuate the slide release with an empty mag in the well... it will be as hard as woodpecker lips. The empty mag will be putting tension on the slide release to keep it in place.

However, there is no need to ever use the slide release. Grab that slide and rack it back and you will be on track. Grabbing the slide works for every damn autoloader, no silly little levers to push on or look for.

Just put a snap cap in and it was smooth as butter lol thanks a lot. I was really worried it was defective because I usually don't have a problem with slide releases... though I don't get why every poster is just all about racking the slide manually
