Default Taurus 85 Ultralight.....anyone have one?

Cabela's has a Taurus 85 Ultralight on sale this month for $299 and was curious if anyone has one, and if you do, what do you think of it? Would love a S&W revolver, but if I can get one for half of what a S&W costs, would love to.

Had one years ago and sold it when I decided to "upgrade" to a S&W 642 but the 85UL was a great little gun, well made and reliable. Plus even used it sold fast 'cause there seems to be a good market for them. Only thing is I don't recall it being +P rated but I could be wrong. And that price seems pretty good.

I have one. Good little gun, the wife carries it. It is +p rated. Not the same as a S&W but worth buying and carrying.

I carry one daily as my bug. It is +p rated. Nice piece. Bought it used from another member here, but I paid more than that for it. I feel so ........... Shoot, I don't care! I like the gun.

Heres mine with the older wood grips I bought off ebay for ten bucks. I think Taurus got it right with the 85. I am surprised how accurate it is. I would get it if I were you and in the market for a 38 snubbie.

Mine seems to have been passed around on this forum a bit lol but yes I love it. Its my first revolver so I cant compare, but next to my glocks and millenium its a beautiful thing. Its my BUG as well. Mine has a smoothed trigger pull, ported barrel, hogue grips and shaved hammer spur. I never shot it before so I cant tell you if it made a difference but I can say I love this gun and for 300 you should flying body tackle that deal.

My fiancee has one as her carry weapon. All Ultra lights are +p rated. She did have some problems with the pin that locks the cylinder into place getting jammed back causing the cylinder to not lock into place which made the gun useless. I cleaned the hell out of the pin and oiled it up real good and it still stuck. I don't know if the spring was defective or what although she got it new. I macgyvered it and it has been working fine since then and several hundred rounds have been shot through it since then so she carries it everyday. Not much problems you can have with a revolver but thought I would bring this to your attention. Another thing is the trigger is very heavy when the hammer is not cocked back. If you cock the hammer and then fire the trigger is pretty smooth.

bought a stainless steel version about 3 years ago and probably put 100 rounds through it.

Solid and has never failed me, although its not my CCW because I bought it primarily for fun.

For the price and the lifetime warranty you simply cannot go wrong!

I've had mine for about 2 years and is my primary summer carry piece. Very accurate for a snubby (within reasonable distances) and is 100% reliable. The finish has hled up to alot of carry time IWB and in a pocket holster. I have an Uncle Mikes IWB holster and it is almost comfortable and hides nicely. Pocket carry is no problem either. Overall, worth every penny I paid for it. My only beef is the HKS speedloaders are an absolute whore to, um, speedload with.
