    Default just joined Guthsville

Just this minute, I went through the application process and joined Guthsville gun club. Its kinda exciting because I have been wanting to join somewhere now for awhile, but just never did, so I wanted to let everyone know, that I have finally made the plunge and I put the application through on the internet.

    Hopefully they will take me

Very nice gun club! They've got plenty of outdoor ranges for: rifle, pistol, AND shotgun. The big bonus is that Guthsville has one of the best indoor shooting facilities anywhere in NEPA. (I used to be a range officer there.)

    You've made an excellent choice!

I shoot USPSA there a few times a year. Very nice facility. There was a bit of a squabble with a neighbor a while back that threatened the ranges, but it seems that is all cleaned up now. You've made a good choice.

thanks for all of the positive remarks about the range, I am glad to hear them. I was worried about making a choice because I am not a rich man, so to spend money on a membership anywhere, I was researching and then ultimately hoping that I was making a good choice.

By the way it sounds, I have.

Are there no limits to how often you go? Are the indoor ranges for all use, or just for special uses? No other limitations or restrictions that I should know about?

I am Thinking of joing Guthsville. Is the indoor pistol range open during the week during the winter months and available to all members or just during special meets?

    Don't we all wish!

Not while I was one of the indoor range officers. The range was open, at most, two nights a week for: small bore matches, IDPA practice sessions, and IDPA matches. (I think there was an occasional cowboy shooting program, too.) There have been several attempts to open the indoor range to the public on weekends; but, mainly because of poor attendance, the programs have always been canceled.

It's a shame that such an excellent indoor shooting facility doesn't attract a larger crowd. It's big; it's well lit; and the air scrubbers really work. (I never understood the lack of attendance!) It would be great to be able to go there on Winter weekends; but, unless something radically changes, I don't see it happening. (Which is the principal reason why I'm no longer a club member!)

Anyway, for whatever it's worth, this is a group of really nice guys - Some of the best people I've shot with anywhere!

Thanks for the reply. That is what I read some time ago. Seems no change. Hard to believe such a great facility is closed to the membership most of the time.

If that changes I would join.

that does suck about the indoor range, yea well, this place has got to be 100 times better than going to firing line in whitehall. too expensive, and too many rules. They will fine you for just about anything there
