Where to shoot IDPA/USPSA/etc
My apologies to shecht for my blatant threadjack on his IDPA firearm post. I'm sorry, my bad.
I would like to start shooting some of these organized shoots but, I'm having trouble figuring out when and where to go to shoot.
NHRPC had some on their calendar but they went and updated their website and now I can't make heads or tails of anything on there.
Are "match" shoots just open shoots? A "Championship" is obviously a registered event.
Are there clubs that just shoot for practice once a week or month like a lot do for trap, skeet or sporting clays?
I've followed the IDPA and USPSA links and feel like I'm just getting run around in circles without ever getting any solid info about where to go, when and how much it costs.
Also what is the "minimum equipment" needed to shoot vs the "recommended equipment".

you can try this website...www.nepaidpascores.com there is a list of all the upcoming shoots in the eastern half of the state. Also some links to other good information. As for minimum....100rds of ammo, a conceleable holster, gun that goes bang and a spare mag or speedloader for revolvers thats basically the bare minimum for idpa....safety wise you will need ear protection and eye protection....everything past that is optional

Re: Where to shoot IDPA/USPSA/etc
Required EQ is A gun, lol, 3 magazines, and approved belt holster(no cross draws allowed) with a cant of 10 degrees or less.
The IDPA rules can be down loaded off line.
A double or two single Mag pouchs are a must, athough you can put them in a pocket in a pinch. And a concealment garment, as most courses of fire require drawing from concealment. Eye and ear protection of course.
No courses of fire are supposed to require more than 18 rounds.
Check with your local range
Good luck and enjoy!!

For USPSA: http://uspsa.org/
Go to the middle right on the main page and there is a club finder tool. Enter PA into the search line.
There is also lots of info on USPSA throughout the site.Friends don't let friends buy Taurus's

It's about a 45min drive from Denver but the York Isaac Walton League has a monthly USPSA shoot as well as a monthly 'Fun Shoot' which is great! Well run events.
Check out their web blog.
