    Default Leatherwork at home

So I've decided to try my hand at making an IWB/bedside holster for my Sig with the light attached. Here's my progress so far.(please note that this is my first try):

more pics will be posted with progress.

I can't say if it is good or not, because I can't "try" it. I will say this though, as someone who has never tried any type of leather work, you certainly get an A+ for the attempt. Good job, and let us know how it works.

Looking good...is that loop going to be for a metal clip?

No matter how it works you get credit for having the balls to try it.

Nice work, Chemical. Especially for a first time.

What weight leather did you use? I've been meaning to make a run to Tandy in Allentown to pick up some 8 weight leather for some knife sheaths and something lighter to make a tuckable IWB holster for my P3AT and PF9. I need to get belt clips too.

I made a pancake-style holster w/ a retention strap for my Colt SAA clone for when I wear it hunting. It's hard to find a regular holster for a Peacemaker-style pistol. It didn't turn out too bad. I did make the slots for the belt too narrow for my hunting belt. Oops!

I'll try again. It's not like I don't have a whole side of 11-13 weight leather or anything.

I'm using 6-7 for the holster. Tandy is where I went today, they have everything including belt clips! They have 4-5 and 6-7 weight sheets on sale for $14.99 right now. 4-6 sq. ft...Thanks!

Ok so its done. I made it slightly too small to accommodate the gun with the light attached, it fits...barely....way too snug. However, it fits my Hk perfectly.

All I have to do is trim and resew to make it more aesthetically pleasing but all in all I'm proud of my first leather project.

The 3rd pic shows the proposed holster once I trim and resew. It's pretty much going to be a copy of my Bianchi Holster.

If it's too tight, give the holster a heavy spray w/ water to loosen the leather, then work the gun into the holster and allow some time for it to stretch and dry. I've done it w/ 3 in 1 oil as well.

Im going to cut this one down and make another one. I got ahead of myself with eagerness with the first one and I messed up. I'm now working on a pocket holster. After that I'll make a new one for the gun/light.
