Re: Schuylkill Gun Works
Was doing the schkuylkill County winery tour this weekend and saw the signs for this place on 61.. Gave them a call and got directions to the shop.
From the signs you'd think the shop was huge with a cabelas like selection. Least that was the impression I got.. They had a decent amount of handguns and bunch of hunting rifles and a few AR's. Decent amount of reloading stuff.
Prices were good. I've only shopped at Kings Shooters for reloading stuff. So that is my comparison. Their Powder was cheaper, but other items seemed to be the same. They carried new and once fired brass for a bunch of different calibers.
The salesman was nice, and answered my questions and even talked me out of a sale, LoL.. I also asked about the red dot scopes, he had a cheapy there and a couple eotechs. He explained the differences and why one was 40$ and the eo's were 300+. I bought a few things there, including the cheapy red dot . Wish I would of asked about suppressors (I viewed their website and they do sell them.), I prob would of ordered one and got that process started.
I'm in schuylkill County often and also like to visit cabelas. So its a shop that I'd stop at again.
Sorry didn't get prices on the guns or rifles.. wasn't shopping for those. Mainly there for reloading stuff.

Re: Schuylkill Gun Works
Bump and update to an old thread.
Finally got to stop by the shop on "accident" as I was out X-Mas shopping.
Nice guys, good service, asked about transfers, it is still $8 person to person and $20 for orders, which is a REAL GOOD PRICE!
Looks like they have a decent amount of powder and reloading stuff on the shelves for a small shop, powder was $2 cheaper per pound than Cabelas. Good amount of used stuff on tables and shelves. Right around the amount of rifles and pistols in the cases and racks as you expect to see in a small shop. They said they can order anything you want.
Overall great first trip...and I did pick up a stripped AR lower for a new project while I was there (Merry Christmas to me!).
I recommend anyone in the area to check them out."Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775

I believe so, though I haven't lived in town long enough. They moved in about 3-4 years ago. They are on Main st. across from the beer distributor and car washes.

I just picked up another pretty major purchase from SGW on Tuesday. Once again, the pricing was awesome and the service is second to none. I can't recommend this shop enough.

Anyone have an update on this shop?
I heard through the grapevine they had a small fire, and closed, but that was last year.
Website says closed for renovations but operating by appointment only.
I will be heading that way in a few day and plan on stopping by Shakey's also, but was going to swing over to SGW if they are open for business again.

Re: Schuylkill Gun Works
The shop is not open. I don't know about private appointments. The rumor mill told me that they were looking into building a new place near Renningers Market on Rt. 61, that would include an indoor shooting range, but that was months ago, and I haven't heard anything since.

They are building a new store with indoor range. Would already be built if it weren't for penndot and the township dragging their feet on permits. Will be worth the wait. Great guys, great shop can't wait till they reopen, their deals aren't shakey
