    Default Shooting while Moving tips?

So this weekend a buddy of mine and I had the range to ourselves, hung some "gongs" and a target and went to town with pistols. Just have a good ol time...

    I discovered a few things:

    1. It is INSANELY hard to shoot while moving, we are both decent shots and if we hit 2 out of 10 it was a good run. I had a lot of difficulty lining up the front sight or even seeing the front sight when I was shooting

    - are there any "in home" drills I can do to work on this?

    - any "tips"?

    2. It takes a lot longer then I expected to pull my spare mag out of my pocket for a reload... but I'd still much rather have that then no reload at all.

    3. Shooting one handed is hard but I'm much more confident shooting one handed and off handed then I am shooting while on the move
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

I dry fire on the treadmill.

Try to separate the upper body and lower body to start out. Kind of like a tank on treads. Bend the knees and move while keeping the shoulders from bouncing.

You'll be running and gunning before you know it.

keep your upper torso steady by not bobbing your body, bends or knee more when moving, don't cross your legs when moving to the sides. try to fire only when both feet are on the ground.
shooting and moving is fun but gotz to be careful, don't want to trip and muzzle everyone or yourself

I would suggest finding an instructor to teach you linear and lateral movements. Most people don't know what to do with their feet when shooting and moving. A good instructor can teach you this.

Keep your knees bent. Take small steps. Don't bob up and down.

If moving forward step using the heel-toe method. Heel strikes the ground first.

Moving backwards use the toe-heel method. Toe hits the ground first going backwards.

Lateral movement, don't cross your feet, take small shuffling steps.

I love to shoot and move, great training!!!

Don't stop to reload either. KEEP MOVING!!!

Don't try to coordinate your shots with both feet being on the ground. Shoot when your sites are on the target.

    ^^^^^^^
all of that! it's a little hard to get used to at first, but keep your knees bent and take small steps. Go slow at first and you will get faster with time.

The part about keeping your knees bent is absolutely right. Put one foot directly in front of the other when you're moving. Straight line.

What I do to practice is pick a point on a wall (light switch, piece of tape, whatever) and try to keep your sights steady on that point while moving. Approach it from different angles including backing up. Might have to do this outside depending on the layout of your house.
