Re: WHAT IS THE BEST CARRY ROUND????
Oh, boy... Here we go... Yet another "what's the best carry round" thread.
Ask 5 different people, you will get 5 different opinions.
The best carry round is the one you are the most comfortable with.
I carry .45 ACP, and I know people who carry .22LR and .25 auto... And everything in between.

Re: WHAT IS THE BEST CARRY ROUND????
Any well known brand JHP will do, as long as the bullet reliably expands and doesn't shed the jacketing. Don't forget whatever your gun feeds and functions reliably too. Hornady, Remington GS, Speer, Corbon, etc. You could also ask (if you are up to it), a local LEO what he uses. I personally use the new Winchester PDX1 in 180gr. It has passed all the FBI tests(I know, whoopi doo), but what I liked was it was one of the most reliable in expansion and never had the jacket separate during any test that i saw or read about. It's also very accessable and not too expensive where I live. I hope this helps.
So ya, Thought ya, Might like to Go to the show

Re: WHAT IS THE BEST CARRY ROUND????
+1 on the winchester PDX1's.
I also have been useing Golden Sabers in 180 grain.
I get better/quicker follow up shots with the Sabers. . .
Try a few brands out. See what works best for you.

Re: WHAT IS THE BEST CARRY ROUND????
^^^^^
some guns dont like to feed a certain brand of ammo, some guns wont feed HP. you have to search around and find what you gun shoots best. i suggest running at least 100+ FAIL FREE rounds of what ever you want to carry before you decide to carry it.
i myself carry hornady critical defense in both my pistols. a friend of mine with the exact same type of gun i have wont feed the hornady ammo right. some guns are picky with what they like to feed.

Re: WHAT IS THE BEST CARRY ROUND????
As others have stated, use whatever JHP you find to be reliable in your gun. It's important, if a little expensive, to run a few boxes (100+ rds, if you can) through to ensure reliable feeding and firing.
personally, i have found Speer Gold Dot to cycle reliably, i would assume it exists in .40S&W
of course, just because it works for me doesn't mean it works for you.ONE TO THE HEAD!!!!
