Default Rifle ownership transfer - hows it work.

My father has a ruger .22 that was his father's he's handing it down to me. I'm 19 and I own already own a mossberg maverick. so what procedures do we have to go through to transfer the ownership.

Thank you everyone. We're both PA residents, I was thinking more on it, my father may have gotten the gun when my grandfather passed away, it was left to my father. If that was the case, my father was already a PA resident. Would this effect anything? Sorry i hadn't mentioned that earlier, i just thought of it

*As long as you are both PA residents. Otherwise, the transfer would require an FFL, and FFLs cannot transfer a firearm (even long guns) to someone under 21.

Previous answers are correct, assuming that you're both residents of PA. If not, Federal law requires transfer at an FFL (in either state) after your 21st birthday.

    no.

FFLs cannot transfer "firearms" that qualify for LTCF purposes to people under 21

a non prohibited person may purchase a title 1 rifle or shotgun at any FFL in PA, and in multiple other states, at the age of 18.

    18 for rifle/shotgun, 21 for pistol/handgun.

You need do nothing but accept the gift. Well, you need to express a heartfelt thank you as well. You will then possess a family heirloom that you should care for and enjoy till the time comes to pass it on to the next family member in line. I'm not giving up my Dad's rifle till I'm dead, then it goes to my youngest daughter....provided she has earned it. Otherwise to my brother and he can later determine who is next in line.
    When the SHTF......be the fan.
