Two charged after gun incident at South Side bar

    Handgun waved; two men charged

SCRANTON - A brandished handgun inside Bongo's Bar & Grill, 901 Meadow Ave., led to charges against two patrons early Friday, police said.

Ralph E. Metzgar, 24, of 1049 Skyline Drive, Ransom, told officers who responded about 2:10 a.m. that Edward Oreleski, 45, of 1200 Main St., Avoca, took his 9 mm handgun and waved it at other customers, police said.

Mr. Oreleski told police he ran across the bar, grabbed the weapon and pointed it to the side when he saw Mr. Metzgar reaching for the gun.

Mr. Oreleski was charged with reckless endangerment. He and Mr. Metzgar were charged with disorderly conduct, said police, who received conflicting statements about the incident.

Well, one thing we can count on is that there is probably nothing accurate about the description of this event. It will be impossible to make any kind of useful observation based on that tale. It leaves me with a 100 questions that most likely won't get answered. At least nobody got shot. That's a good thing.
