Question What vehicle carry rig do you run?

Thinking about adding a holster to one or more of my cars rather than keep it on my hip.

What vehicle mounted holster are you running?

Without a lockbox in my vehicle, I refuse to leave one in there unattended. A vehicle is the perfect place to carry in a way that I typically poo-poo: on the ankle. It's very easy to reach down and grab a revolver from my boot when seated in a car. That's how I do it at least.

If you insist on mounting a holster, I'd look at mounting a SERPA under the steering column. Again, that's just me. I'm sure you'll get better suggestions regarding how to mount a holster. I don't do it, so I don't have any real-world experience.

Never said I'd leave it. It would go back on my hip when I leave the car.

I try to avoid playing fuck-fuck with loaded guns, so when it goes on my hip in the morning, it stays there until bed time.

I too would caution against un-necessarily handling a loaded firearm. Each time you handle a loaded firearm you increase your chances of having a negligent discharge. But I'm sure you are aware of that and don't really need to be lectured.

I have a holster mounted in my vehicle, as well as a lock box for when I travel through MD. After a few months the mounted holster lost its cool factor. For long trips it was ok, but every time I stopped for gas, or to eat or to stretch my legs I was presented with the decision to handle a loaded firearm, or leave it in the vehicle while I conducted my business.

However, for day to day use I came to realize it was much safer, and much more convenient to leave the firearm on my person.

    Great words here!

Gun is in a holster on my hip whether I'm home or in car.

Agreed, playing 'fuck-fuck' with the damn gun make one more opportunity for Murphy to work his mis-deeds. I personally have had little trouble with having it on my right hip at 3 o'clock. It's one of the perks of a good clip holster. I can shift it ever so slightly forward when I get situated in the drivers seat without even removing it. One reason I don't like the bulky, two-clip or two-loop designs with so much extra material. KISS principle at work.
