Default Kicked out of auto zone.... Just wanted to get some brakes!

This past week I needed to get some Rotors and Pads to work on my wifes Suv. I went into Pep Boys and was open carrying and had no issues at all. I purchased 2 front rotors and pads there, but they were out of rear shoes for the drums. The guy at pep boys told me to head over to Auto zone. I headed over to the auto zone in warminter, and walked in and I was talking to the counter parts guy. There was about 4 other people at the counter with me when all of the sudden some guy comes up to me and asks is that a firearm on my side. I said yes, and he says to me, "I want you out of my store." I am now standing there in front of everyone and they are staring at me so I did not want to make a scene so I left the store. There was nothing posted on the doors or up front that they have this policy. I was suprised to have an incident like that in a store like Auto Zone. Maybe a starbucks where they hug trees but now a place where I buy motor oil and brakes. Just wanted to share. Never had someone even raise an eyebrow before.

Just a suggestion but perhaps this is an opportunity to start a petition for those of us who would be willing to sign. If it made it's way to their corporate offices, perhaps they can determine how to handle a large loss in customers?

Or we can all just comment here and leave it alone. I vote and commit to singing the petition route. Let's stop letting things slide.

    At a minimum a follow-up letter.

    Perhaps even a quick get-together.

I would definitely let him know that it is his right to ask anyone to leave but he could at least be polite about it.

Then there is mention of taking your and other people's business elsewhere.

Also, be sure he is the owner/franchisee etc. and what corporate policy is beforehand. Just be prepared.

Although he does not have to be polite, there was no reason not to be. Especially for a 'business man'. (Which is why I kinda doubt he was the owner)

ETA= I guess they won't give you any brakes at Autozone!

I would run the incident up through to corporate. It's possible the manger (or whoever confronted you) is not acting per Co. policy.

I live in Warminster and have shopped in that Auto Zone before. I won't be giving them my business anymore.

Don't forget to make them aware of it and why.

There is a sticky somewhere here for a no gun = no $ cards as well.

i frequent the Autozone in my town, mostly because i keep buying crappy vans, and i've never had an issue; in fact, i once had a decent conversation with a manager about guns, for about 15 minutes. i'm pretty sure if it were corporate policy, he would have said something. the guy at your store was just being foolish. contact corporate, and make them aware of his foolishness. gently inform them that you post on an internet forum that has a few thousand members, at least, throughout PA.
