Default Girl fired from gov job because CC permit

    .

‘Survivor Of Sexual Assault’ Says She Was Fired For Having A Concealed Carry Permit
A woman identifying as a Virginia social worker took to social media Friday evening to vent about being fired from her job for being a concealed carry permit holder.

Storm Durham, a former Department of Virginia Social Services employee who describes herself as a “22 year old blonde who is 5’2 and about 140 pounds who loves everything Disney, pink, and basic,” asserts that she was escorted out of her office by three Roanoke, Va., police officers after she was canned

She was, according to a post on Facebook, not even allowed to use the bathroom due to “serious safety concerns to the building.”

“I was fired today due to having a concealed carry permit,” Durham wrote on Facebook.

“Was my gun on me? No.

Has it ever been on me during my job, or visits, or anything related to work? No.

When I told them that it has never been on me during work, what did they say? ‘How do we know that.'”

“I got my concealed carry because I am woman, and y’all have seen the news, it’s kind of crazy,” she said on a Facebook Live video. In her post, she described herself as a “survivor or sexual assault.”

“I have a concealed carry permit. I own guns. I hunt. I target shoot. I represent Women hunters and outdoorswomen,” she wrote on Facebook.

“Does that make me a criminal?

Does that make me a safety risk to others?

A big enough safety risk to be escorted by three Roanoke City Police officers?

So scary and threatening that I need to be treated like a criminal?

To be humiliated and looked down upon for owning a gun?

For legally having a gun, registering that gun, and having the appropriate documentation for that gun?”

Seems highly unlikely to me. I'm guessing there is more to this story.

If it actually went the way she claims it went, then it is a slam dunk for a lawsuit.
    I guess time will tell.

During discovery her work record will come out. The Court will have the chance to review the whole issue.

Many of us work for employers who do not like firearms on their property. I've never worked in a place where just being a shooter was an issue.

I am guessing she had the gun with her on the job in some way (in violation of some policy/reg/law), or told someone she did (whether she had it or not), OR, she was fired for some totally unrelated reason, and, knowing (through whatever means) she had a concealed carry permit, the police were just a precaution.

Agree with others who said there’s more to the story.

No firearms policies usually include the employer’s property, (i.e., your firearm in the trunk of your car in THEIR parking lot). All it takes is an anonymous tip to HR from a coworker, who knows about the firearm in your trunk.

"When I told them that it has never been on me during work, what did they say? ‘How do we know that.'”"

The thing is, I've heard many police make essentially that argument about people they encounter who happen to have guns; "how do we know that you aren't a criminal?" and "we don't know who you are so we have to detain you" or "we ran the serial number to see if it was stolen or not registered to you".

That mindset exists in the real world, and it's not much different than the racists who beat up "outside agitators" in the 1960's, the "we trust us and you're not one of us" mindset.

Whether this happened in this particular case, I don't know. But anti-gun hysteria exists, and when the snowflakes encounter someone exercising this civil right they ignore logic and facts and they just want to fire people and ban guns and put up roadblocks to exercising an enumerated Constitutional right. In previous versions, these were the folks who burned women accused of witchcraft.

If she in fact worked for the government, and they fired her for private gun ownership, then she has a viable civil rights lawsuit against the employer and those individuals involved.

Maybe she ate her breakfast toast in the office into the shape of a pistol.
