Uncle is retired. Farm qualifies as a "hobby farm", only 7 cows counting this year's calves.

Besides, 30-36" fall is less than a 20' fall that he would have otherwise risked. ...his old tree stand was a wooden structure nailed to a tree and used a metal extending ladder to climb up to.

I thought about lowering mine and using the existing platform as a roof.
That would drop me to 13 or 14 feet.
The problem I have is if my kiddos even offered to help, I would be more concerned that they would fall.

I do like the 20 feet elevation and I'm only 70 so I provly have a few more years up there.
I remove the lag screws each year and inspect for weakness or corrosion..

Hope he scores from the new stand.

Build a section below the existing, while retaining the original. ...a two-story slayer shack.

Once you get old, you can move down to the lower level and allow the young bucks to climb to the higher level.

Very nice taking care of your Uncle like that. If you put in a heater and a cot, he can be there at sunrise, for the big one.

He has kerosene and a propane heaters that he used in his old 4'x4' open sided stand. And he joked about moving out there and placing a cot in it.

Please put a railing on it. Broken necks happen fast as shit and I like you. Don't want to be called Blinky.

Needs a deck and a grill, but pretty nice otherwise!

I could use a shed for my mowing equipment.

I was thinking when we built it. ...we left an air gap top and bottom for fresh air due to carbon monoxide. That and, the windows aren't exactly quiet to open due to rails/frames being made of barn wood. He'll probably have the window in front of his seat open.

I don't recall getting paid for this.. lol I'm no Einstein, but I'm pretty sure 3 x $0 is $0.
