Figures, I never got one. It just expired. Can't wait to deal with this now.

It is a valid exception to carry on that license for up to 6 months after the expiration date.

Take that as you will. Renew ASAP, but IMHO, if asked for your current card. If you hand it over, you won't get it back.
Take that as you will as well. No requirement to turn in your old one, but it's nice to keep in case you need to provide it.

I'm going to the court house in the morning to renew it. I hope they don't give me crap since it expired. I'm hoping for the best but expecting attitude and problems.

Who cares what they think or feel.

Tell them you are there to renew, if they give you any shit.

ASK THEM, why they didn't send you a reminder THAT IS REQUIRED BY LAW
    .
§ 6109 (f)(2) At least 60 days prior to the expiration of each license, the issuing sheriff shall send to the licensee an application for renewal of license. Failure to receive a renewal application shall not relieve a licensee from the responsibility to renew the license.

I plan to ask why. I just would have preferred to get it done before it expired.

And since this is DELCO we're talking about they will refer to the part I highlighted above and turn it back on you.

And the OP is fulfilling that requirement. Two separate things.

end of the day, it's no big deal that it expired. For all intents and purposes, his LTCF is still valid IMHO.

OP: DONT bring you LTCF to the sheriffs office, they'll steal it from you.
maybe it got lost... Turning in your old one is not a disqualification for renewal.

I fully believe they will always turn it back on you. I'd like to know why they didn't send one though.
